Why every derived word keeps its history
A derived form is only as trustworthy as the steps behind it. Here is why Lemula keeps those steps attached to the result.
A dictionary entry tells you what a word is. It rarely tells you how it got there. When you are reconstructing a language, the how is the part you argue about.
Lemula attaches the derivation to the result. Each form carries the ordered steps that produced it: the rules that fired, the stage each one applied at, the earlier form it started from. You can read the output and check the reasoning in the same place.
What this buys you
When a result disagrees with an attested form, the history shows where the two diverged. You change one rule, and every form that depended on it updates, with its steps rewritten. Nothing is a black box you have to trust.
This page is a short introduction. More entries on the model will follow.
