About Lemula
A tool for building historical and constructed languages.
Define a proto-language and its stages, write the sound changes and other changes between them, and Lemula derives every word at every stage. Each result keeps the history that produced it, ready to publish as reference pages.
01
Who it is for
Lemula gives conlangers and worldbuilders a place to describe how a language grows from an earlier form. A family can branch, words can pass between its lines, and the published result reads as a reference work.
Historical linguists and students can use the same structure to model documented language change, test a sequence of rules, and inspect how each form was derived.
02
The approach
Lemula models the evolution of a language across its vocabulary. Sound changes sit alongside compounding, derivation, semantic shift, borrowing, and obsolescence. Together, these events describe how words enter a language, change within it, and fall out of use.
Every derived form carries a traceable history through the stages that produced it. Reference lexicons can then check those results against attested or reconstructed forms, so agreements and differences remain visible.
